Distressed mother confronts kangaroo shooter
March 2018:Â
A Victorian mother is calling on the Victorian government to stop the advancement of the kangaroo meat and skins industry in Victoria and suspend the Victorian Pet Food trial after a horrific incident with a kangaroo shooter when dropping her children at school.
The Hamilton mother (who would like to keep her identity a secret out of fear for her families safety), contacted the Australian Society for Kangaroos in a distraught state after her and her children were witness to an open ute full of dead kangaroos hanging in front of her while driving her children to school.Â
The mother who was in a very distressed state, chased down the driver, confronting him about his negligent and potentially illegal practice at such an inappropriate time of day. The ute openly displayed dead kangaroos hanging from hooks and a larger kangaroo flopping around on the back of the ute in full view of the public. See photos above.
The mother wrote to the Australian Society for Kangaroos:
“Hi I live near Hamilton in Victoria and there is a kangaroo pet food processing plant in Hamilton. I was driving on a main road through a school zone at 8.45am one morning and was totally shocked to see an uncovered ute full of kangaroos hanging up and one big kangaroo dead flopping around on the tray (not tied down) I chased the man down and he pulled over and I had a extremely heated conversation with him”.
The shooter has been reported to Victoria Police.
