Dunkeld community action
At the foot of the Grampians in Dunkeld, North West Victoria, Jane and Frank continue to shine a light on the kangaroo massacres in their neighbourhood. They have brought their community together and are even having an influence on local elections where kangaroo friendly counsellors have been elected to the Grampians Council. They have also brought a not for profit ‘conservation’ group Nature Glenelg Trust out from under a rock and exposed their brutal practices on pristine land they inherited at the foot of the Grampians. After they exposed this group for what they were doing to the local kangaroos, shooting ceased.
ASK continue to work closely with members of the public who are fighting to stop kangaroo kills in their community and are very proud to be able to work with people like Jane and Frank from Dunkeld who for the past six months have fought for the right to live a peaceful life in their country retreat while protecting the local kangaroos. After many months of shooting and horror next door to their retreat, Jane and Frank have successfully procured support from the Grampians council as well as the media and many sections of their community in an effort to have shooting stopped. They are an incredibly brave and determined couple and we are proud to be able to work with them to protect them and their local kangaroo mobs.
Please see below for some of the media and just some of the work they have been doing to create significant and sustainable change in their local community.
